1963 MG MG1100

Highlights

  • Very early production example from 1963
  • Subject to a full restoration some years ago
  • New inner and outer sills in 2023 and further structure work in 2024
  • Mechanical overhaul in 2024 including engine strip down and rebuild
  • Extensive photographic documentation of recent work
  • Beautifully preserved factory-correct MG variant

The Appeal

Of the many and perhaps bewildering array of AD016 variants, the MG model is amongst the most interesting because it leaned into the car’s often under-rated handling and agility.
Contemporary buyers seemed to agree with nearly 120,000 selecting the 2 or 4 dr MG-grilled versionover its 9-year production run. Of those, just 108 remain on the road today and here is one of the earliest and best-preserved we’ve seen in a very long while.
Finished in burgundy with matching interior, it is a much-loved car that was restored around many years ago. Since 2023 it has received considerable further improvements including new inner and out sills and attention to the subframe. The engine has also been stripped and fully rebuilt with new seals and gaskets. There is a new radiator and the clutch assembly has been replaced.
These MG-badged AD016s rarely come to market. They are practical and stylish classics and this lovely, factory-correct example is very charming.
