The Appeal
The marriage of Paul Bracq’s gorgeous design, with its neat details like the ‘stack’ headlights, and the dedication of Mercedes’ engineers delivered arguably one of the best saloon cars ever built. The W108 was built like a Swiss watch and in 160bhp 280SE fuel injected form was both technologically advanced and seriously quick.
These cars were extremely expensive when new and few UK buyers had deep enough pockets to order one in RHD. That makes this handsome 1968 car, finished in fetching mid blue metallic, a proper rarity. It is a tidy, usable example with an original and unrestored grey leather cabin featuring a big factory sliding steel sunroof. There are a few points to note around the bodywork but the car is presentable and comes with a fresh service.
Few 60s saloons quite match the glamour and engineering finesse of the W108. This well-specified car could be used as is or gently improved as the buyer enjoys it.
