The Appeal
A Series IIA 109" with a full canvas top is one of the more unusual configurations of Land Rover's iconic workhorse. While short-wheelbase canvas-top examples appear on the market with some regularity, the long-wheelbase 109 variant is a considerably rarer sight, offering generous passenger capacity and a wonderfully open-air motoring experience when the canvas sides and rear are rolled up.
This example is the so-called 'Maltese Cross' variant, the later of the IIAs with the lights moved outboard to the front wings while retaining a metal grille. Our car was comprehensively restored approximately six years ago and comes with a history file documenting the period since. The vendor states it is garage-stored, presents in very good order, starts reliably on the first turn, and drives well. With parts plentiful and inexpensive, these are a charming and versatile classic for those seeking a car perfect for dog walks, pub visits, beach days or a spot of off-roading.image.png1.89 MB
