The Appeal
The Sonett is a rare and remarkable Swedish sports car that combines Saab's typically innovative engineering with the reliable performance of the Ford Taunus V4 engine. With its lightweight fibreglass body and characterful Ford-sourced V4 engine, the Sonett offered an engaging driving experience that set it apart from its contemporaries.
This 1969 example has been cherished by its current owner for over three decades, during which time it has been thoughtfully enhanced and consistently maintained.
This Sonett is worthy of consideration for its impressive ownership history and comprehensive mechanical upgrades. The engine has been substantially uprated with competition valve springs, a Group 2 camshaft, Weber carburettor conversion and balanced internals, creating what the vendor describes as an enjoyable, free-revving unit with lively performance. The suspension has also been improved with Leda adjustable front dampers and uprated rear springs. Despite these enhancements, the car maintains a completely standard external appearance.
With a history of regular use, including multiple trips to Le Mans, this well-sorted Sonett represents an opportunity to acquire a characterful classic that's ready to be enjoyed.
The vendor says:
"The car receives incredible interest wherever it goes but especially on the journey to Le Mans. We are now looking to downsize our home and I have to take the tough decision to sell the car."image.png1.75 MB
