The Appeal
The appropriately named Traveller was the SUV of the 1950s and 60s, a stylish wood-lined estate that was motoring’s bread and butter for growing families. Each one was virtually hand-built between the Cowley and Abingdon works, making them one of Britain’s most populous coach-built cars.
The car’s style and practicality explains why the Traveller remains so popular. Few cars elicit such a positive response from passersby. All of which is a future awaiting the lucky buyer of this rather pretty Smoke Grey 1970 Traveller. It comes to market with one of the key jobs on these cars recently done - the wood has been refurbished, including sanding and revarnishing.
The vendor is the only the third keeper. They acquired the car in 2022, intending to use it as a promotional vehicle for their business. Plans changed and the car has been little used since the last voluntary MOT expired in 2021. Alongside the recent wood renovation it has received a minor service and new battery.
There are a few points to note in the photos, but nothing that detracts from what is a very usable example of these perennially popular and very simple and rugged classics.
The vendor says:
“This Morris Minor Traveller 1000 is a delight to drive, you get toots & waves every time you take it out, and is a real head-turner. It will be a big shame to have to part ways with this true little gem, but we can be sure that it will be a loved little machine for any potential buyer.”
