The Appeal
The Rover P6 might well be one of the most usable classics of the 70s. Destined for the executive wearing brown corduroys and kipper ties, these sophisticated, performance-led, V8-powered cars were every bit as smart and paradoxically flamboyant as their drivers, and continue to capture the imagination as one of Rover's all-time greatest achievements.
This particular example began life as a 425-prefix 3500 Automatic. It underwent comprehensive restoration in 2006, when it was stripped back to the frame and meticulously rebuilt, with parts of this process even being documented in Practical Classics magazine. Having been purchased from the well-known Matthewson's auction house in Yorkshire (of "Bangers and Cash" TV fame), this P6 is now fitted with a manual box, just like the 3500S factory cars, and has everything going for it - fine condition, fine performance and a fine history.
