The Appeal
With its pillarless side profile and distinctive ‘stack’ headlights, the W114 coupe is one of Paul Bracq’s finest designs and has come to be regarded as one of the iconic Mercedes models. So, it is perhaps no surprise to discover that this car is in demand with film and TV producers and photographers for commercial shoots. Recognised for its pioneering features, engineering, build and quality, it is also considered to have one of the most reliable engines in history.
It was the first of the Mercedes models to feature the Bosch D-Jetronic fully electronic fuel injection, a central console and the now iconic ribbed lights and is an original, increasingly rare, RHD UK market model. Significant restoration work by the current owner included bodywork, floorplates and upholstery with the car being ‘taken down to its wheel arches’ and restored.
These cars have long been admired for their blend of mechanical sophistication and understated glamour, and good examples are increasingly sought after. This 1971 UK-registered example benefits from a restoration and presents a fine opportunity to acquire a handsome Mercedes-Benz coupe that is ready to be used and enjoyed.IMG_8652.jpeg222.71 KB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
