The Appeal
An totemic icon of its era, the Volkswagen Type 2 found its calling with the countercultural 'Hippie' movement of the 1960s and '70s. These vans were favoured for their simplicity and as an ideal starting point for a campervan conversion.
This 1971 example is in good condition for its age. The vendor has owned it since 2014, keeping it dry-stored and regularly serviced throughout their tenure. It has been freshly MOT'd prior to sale.
They tell us:
"The vehicle was originally registered in Australia and was imported into the UK in about 2005. So it has spent most of its previous life in a dry state. We bought the camper in 2014 and it has been garaged since we owned it. It was white, so it has been resprayed in 2010.
"The underneath is in good order and has been WaxOyled. The camper was a transporter van with two small windows in and empty inside, so we have added windows generally kept the camper in good order. from a bodywork perspective. The engine has been regularly serviced.
"This van has been part of our family and now our boys have left we are reluctantly selling it so another family can enjoy it. With power steering and lowered, it drives very nicely, it is original enough to still feel like a classic but modern enough to have a few creature comforts.
