The Appeal
The six-cylinder Aston Martin DBS, penned by William Towns and produced between 1967 and 1972, is a grand tourer of real presence and pedigree. Long overshadowed by its V8-powered sibling, the inline-six car has come into sharp focus in recent years as collectors recognise its elegant proportions, its mechanical simplicity relative to the Vantage, and its status as a genuine David Brown-era Aston Martin. Late-production 1972 examples such as this one are considered among the most developed of the model.
This particular DBS is a right-hand-drive car in its original Fiesta Red, coming to market as a part-restored project with a great deal of the heavy lifting already done. The chassis has been completely stripped back to bare metal, sandblasted, sealed and repainted, and the vendor reports that all structural points are sound with no corrosion present. Key mechanical work has been carried out by UK specialists, and new radiators and a stainless steel exhaust system have also been fitted.
What remains is the final chapter: the original aluminium body panels are mounted but require gapping, alignment and paint preparation before the car can be finished in its factory Fiesta Red. The beige leather interior is complete and could be preserved as-is for a sympathetic finish or used as templates for a full re-trim. Accompanying the car are invoices for the specialist UK work, extensive photographic documentation of the restoration, and the Heritage Trust certificate. If you fancy taking on a well-founded restoration project with the most demanding mechanical and structural work already behind it, this is exactly the car for you.
