The Appeal

The MG B GT is often seen as the most usable of the MG marque. It’s the iconic MG B with a solid roof and a surprisingly roomy hatchback. It’s fun to drive, easy to handle and simple to work on, just perfect for the British sports car enthusiast, are any classic car owner who enjoys fettling and getting their hands dirty.

First registered in February 1973 this example presents well, having been restored some 7 years ago by its previous MG enthusiast owner, and changed to the timelessly attractive Tartan Red. With overdrive, the engine is said to be stock specification and offers the MG magic as pronounced from the factory but with the refreshed paint, mechanicals and interior.

The Condition

Following a c.2018 restoration, during the last few years, the B GT is said to have covered very few miles and still presents well today
Attractive Light Grey seats and door cards complemented by the traditional painted dash in Tartan Red
The vendor describes the interior as in ‘very good condition, featuring a complementing Light Grey carpet set (including load area)
Front inertia reel seatbelts
Almost concours but has a 3mm ‘dink’ in the N/S front wing

The Mechanics

1.8-litre B Series
Four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive
The engine is described as ‘all standard apart from electronic ignition pack fitted’
Many new mechanical components from the likes of Moss and Sussex Classic Car Parts, Andy Jennings MG Spares and MGOC Spares
Subjected to an engine overhaul at the time of the restoration work, which included a new clutch and c.£2000 in parts
Said to ‘run well, with no known issues’
