The Appeal

Three years into Stag production, Triumph introduced a raft of improvements, notably including tweaked styling like chrome sill trims and smart alloy wheels. The change was introduced gradually, resulting in 1,231 ‘transition’ cars known amongst enthusiasts as ‘Mk1.5’ cars.

This Mimosa Yellow car is one of them, so we suspect it will be of immediate interest to the many fans of Coventry’s sonorous sports car. It retains its original 3L V8, but has been converted from its original auto box to a 4spd manual with overdrive.

The car is complete, including a matching hard top, with evident age to the paintwork and bodywork. The cabin is very tidy for its age and features a modern classic-style DAB stereo. The engine has been partly dismantled as shown in photos, so the car will need to be trailered away.

For the right enthusiast, this is an interesting piece of history that deserves resurrection.
