The Appeal

In the 1970s, the USA was going through financial straits - while Germany was enjoying a high Deutschmark. The result was that the American market, traditionally one of the best for the company, was beginning to falter. They underwent a restructure and, looking at the success of their recently R100RS sports bike, decided to release a touring option - a brave fight to take to America, considering the success of Harley Davidson. All the same, the R100RT, the most expensive bike of its class on the market, managed to gain a very dedicated following.
This specific example has been rebuilt to a custom design with an impressive eye for detail - resulting in a bike that is mechanically sound and visually appealing. With less than 1,000 miles covered since the rebuild, this bike is practically new. It has been displayed as a showpiece since being sold in 2022 for just under £8,000.
