The Appeal
The trick when buying a classic car is to find one where someone else has put in a lot of the work and investment. If that car is also Mercedes-Benz’s excellent R107, particularly in 240bhp 5L top specification, then you’re onto a winner.
This Silver Blue 500SL comes to market after a long list of work. There was a full respray last year, £3,500 of mechanical work recently and a new blue mohair roof in April of 2025. Not surprisingly, it looks and runs very well indeed. We love the colour combination too!
The added bonus with this car is that as of April this year it became eligible for Historic Vehicle status so is tax, ULEZ and MOT exempt.
It is described by the vendor as an example which has a few imperfections but is ready to be enjoyed and offers a good opportunity for the next custodian.

This is a tidy example of the burbling V8-engined R107 and one where you can capitalise on all that recent work. All that and it has those Mexican Hat alloys to boot.
