The Appeal
Introduced in 1979, the second-generation Mitsubishi L300 was a notably versatile light commercial vehicle, offered in numerous body styles and configurations across global markets. Simple, dependable and relatively compact, it proved well suited to everything from van and minibus duties to more specialised leisure conversions.
This 1984 example is one such camper conversion, making particularly good use of the L300’s modest footprint. Accessible directly from the cab, the rear accommodation incorporates a kitchenette, toilet and shower, two sleeping areas, a television, roof vent and various storage cupboards, creating a surprisingly well-equipped living space.
Recently refreshed and evidently well cared for, this L300 Camper has considerable charm as a 1980s leisure vehicle. Its period styling and useful onboard facilities give it a distinctly different character from more conventional modern motorhomes, while the compact dimensions should make it especially approachable for relaxed trips away.
