The Appeal

The Mk1 was good but, as enthusiasts know, it’s the Mk2 where the fun really began. With close to 100bhp on tap from its 1.6L CVH engine, the ultra light second generation XR2 is brilliant fun in the analogue, uncomplicated manner of good, early hot hatches.

All those qualities mean that many have been driven into the ground, so this 1987 car is a great find. It is factory standard and unmodified, finished in red with its original gret fabric sports interior. The condition is tidy and usable, but with scope to improve as you can see in the photos.

For the right enthusiast, this is an XR2 you can make your own.
