The Appeal
When did you last see one? That’s surely the question for most of us when looking at the photographs of this time-warp Renault 5 survivor. And yet, as Renault’s recent Electric 5 reboot proves, the firm’s brilliant supermini was once a staple of suburbia.
With good reason, because the light, well-packaged 5 was excellent and a characterful alternative to the Metro and Fiesta. There was also a car for everyone. For those wanting decent power but a more relaxing city driving experience, there was this car - the 1.4L Automatic.
Exceptionally few Renault 5s survive, and even fewer are of this model. Records indicate just 80 remain road-registered in the UK. Likely, few are as sparingly used as this one. It is highly original and preserved thanks to having covered just 11,500 miles from new. It presents very well, the beige fabric interior being particularly well-kept.
There have been just three keepers from new with the current one since 2017. With MOT to April 2026, containing no advisories, this car is ready to go. Here is your next ticket to Festival of the Unexceptional.
