It is perhaps no surprise that the convertible version of the E30 survives in disproportionately large numbers compared to its saloon and estate siblings. These crisply styled cars with their engaging handling and huge choice of specifications make great full four-seat summer cars. 

This Alpinweiss 1990 car makes a good ‘real world’ classic because it has the economical but usefully powerful 1,990cc M20 engine. The fun factor is dialled up with the manual gearbox, a rare choice on the convertible, which was usually specified with an auto. 

The photos show the car’s condition - it is usable with scope for the buyer to improve it. The MOT runs to July 2026. There are some points to note, but with all that time to sort them, no immediate pressure to do anything other than jump in and experience the joy of an E30.
