The Appeal

If your taste in classic 80s and 90s cars is more about velour and four doors than red stripes and alloys, then we have a treat for you. This time-warp 405 survivor is an incredible find, and one of the best available, though we can only imagine how many there are.

The 405, crisply styled by Pininfarina, was Peugeot’s highly capable fleet and family car staple. It’s widely admired for its looks, comfort and handling. This car is the mid-spec GR, with luxuries such as a tachometer, velour seats, a digital clock, electric front windows, and central locking. It has the XU5 1.6L engine, similar to the one in the 205 GTI but with carburettors, and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The interior and exterior reflect the restraint of its four keepers, who have amassed just 25,000 miles. The white bodywork is barely aged, and the charcoal interior looks hardly used.

This is the kind of eye magnet that will be a talking point at any show, including, of course, the Festival of the Unexceptional. A selection of spares is included as shown.
