The Appeal
The trick when buying a classic Defender is to find one that fits the spec you want. If your prioritise err towards the practical, then you’ll also want one that hasn’t been driven into the ground.
That’s why we like this 1992 example. The current keeper, a design professional, has been extensively upgraded from its 90 Hard Top 200TI roots into something altogether more potent. And yet it clearly hasn’t been treated as a workhorse - just check out the impressive paintwork in the photos to see what we mean.
A pair of thick history folders document the improvements and attest to the work. We’ve covered the upgrades below, but they are also on show in the photos of the inside and outside.
This is a very well maintained and properly sorted Hard Top that has clearly been cherished. It will be sold with a fresh 12 months MOT.
The vendor says:
“The colour is brilliant, and the lights, when they're all on, makes it look a really rugged-looking Defender. Drives tight and does feel like it's been treated well in its life.”
