The appeal
Ford’s investment led to significant developments in the Jaguar XJS over the course of its production run. Whilst the early models remain highly sought-after by collectors, the later versions benefit from numerous improvements that make them particularly well-suited to road use and long journeys. Their build quality has improved, and the 4.0-litre AJ16 inline six-cylinder engine is a renowned power unit. The four-speed automatic gearbox that accompanies it is also well-suited to everyday driving.
This 1993 example, presented in a champagne gold livery with a beige leather interior, is believed to have originated in California before being imported into France in 1995. Its current owner acquired it in 2023 at an estate sale organised by a solicitor and has since carried out extensive work on it. The paintwork was completely redone that same year, whilst a full service included the replacement of fluids, filters, spark plugs, brake pads and tyres. Work was also carried out on the front suspension.
Further work was carried out in 2024, notably the replacement of the crankshaft position sensor, two rear steering links and the air flow meter, using parts sourced from SNG Barratt, a British specialist in Jaguar parts.
The seller describes the bodywork, paintwork and mechanical components as being in excellent condition, whilst the interior is in very good condition. The car features several stickers and badges added by its current owner, as well as a Jaguar ‘Leaper’ emblem on the front. These items can be removed according to the future owner’s preferences.
The black soft top operates correctly and its headlining has been replaced. A soft-top cover is also supplied. The lot also includes several Jaguar XJS workshop manuals, the original steering wheel, the rear bench seat and a selection of spare parts. The seller also offers to carry out an oil change and replace the oil filter prior to delivery. The French roadworthiness certificate is valid until 10 June 2027.image.png1.7 MB
