The Appeal
The Mini already had an established celebrity when Michael Caine took on a fleet of three in 1969's The Italian Job - but there's little doubt that the film's phenomenal success sealed it forever in the public psyche. By the 1990s, the car was one of the most-marketed and most-editioned vehicles ever built, and Rover were likely kicking themselves when they realised the potential in an edition linked to the retro blockbuster.
Released in four separate colourways - the film's liveries of Flame Red, Electric Blue and Ice White, alongside trusty ol' British Racing Green, only 1,000 were built for the UK market, while Italy got 750. They went all out with limited edition badging, bonnet stripes and twin driving lamps, while the cabin was decked out in a handsome black Tweed.
This particular Electric Blue example is a genuine Italian job car and stands out for its comprehensive professional restoration, which saw the car stripped to a bare shell before being meticulously rebuilt with attention to detail that extends to the body-coloured underside and gloss black subframes.

With just 42,412 miles on the clock, reportedly backed by a full service history to verify its limited use, this Mini was a prize in an Aspire auction, and is now being sold on by the lucky winner - who's sure that it'll prove an exciting addition to the buyer's fleet.
