The Appeal
The Brooklands nameplate cleverly evokes images of daring Bentley Boys circling the Surrey track at speed. Its introduction gave buyers the aesthetics of the Turbo without the complexity. The model was gradually improved during its life, most notably receiving more comfortable seats and the Shift Energy Management (SEM) gearbox improvements in 1994.
This smart dark blue metallic Brooklands benefits from those changes. It is well kept inside and out and displays a restrained mileage for its age. The vendor acquired the car in 2021 and has continued the theme of previous keepers of regular maintenance and servicing. There is a raft of invoices from recent years by marque specialists, including work to the suspension system.
The car comes to market with the added reassurance of a lengthy MOT valid to the end of May 2026. A very tidy example of these popular later SZ models.

This exceptional Royal Blue Brooklands benefits from those changes. It is beautifully well kept inside and out and displays a restrained mileage for its age. This example is finished in Royal Blue over a Magnolia hide-trimmed cabin, punctuated by a Royal Blue upper dashboard, Royal Blue piping and carpets, and walnut inlays.
The vendor acquired the car in 2021 from his uncle, who purchased the vehicle from Bentley specialists Hunt & Keal Ltd in 2004, and has continued the theme of previous keepers of regular maintenance and servicing. There is a raft of invoices from recent years by marque specialists, including recent work to the suspension system to renew the gas springs and mineral oil, repairing the mounting stud, adjusting the parking brake, repair to a picnic table hinge, new water pump and repair to central locking control unit whilst in the vendor’s possession.
There is also the previous V5C log book in the Vendor’s uncle’s name and the purchase documents from 2004, which attests to the long term single family ownership. There are also some wonderful keepsakes included giving a nod to the history attached to the car, including a print out of an email confirming the vehicle tax in 2007, that happens to be printed on the back of a British Comedy Society headed letter, dated 20th February 2006, from John Gatenby, detailing all the patrons and ‘friends’ of the society including Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sir Roger Moore CBE, Sir Tim Rice, Sir Norman Wisdom OBE, Joanna Lumley, Barbara Windsor MBE, Victoria Wood OBE and many, many, more to name but a few – many of which we understand have been transported to various events organised by the British Comedy Society in this very vehicle. There is also a lovely hand written note from John, dated 14th August 2004, pertaining to the purchase of the vehicle on the back of British Comedy Society invitation to the presentation of The British Comedy Society’s Living Legend Award by Cilla Black OBE to Ken Dodd OBE!"
