The Appeal
If you wanted to buy a C124 E-Class coupe in the 1990s, you best have deep pockets. If you did, you got arguably the best-engineered car on the market, bar none. With a list of options that pushed the purchase price up a further 20%, this very smart E320 coupe cost its first keeper the equivalent of £110,000 in 1994.
Finished in popular Azurite Blue metallic, those options include Sportline suspension, air conditioning and full beige leather cabin. It remains in very good order inside and out, just some light wear to the usual high traffic interior surfaces to note.
The vendor acquired the car in 2016, reportedly from a previous keeper with connections to a large Mercedes dealership. He has kept the maintenance and servicing up to date using well-regarded marque specialists. Enthusiasts will be keen to note that it has had the wiring harness replaced, rectifying one of the only weaknesses of the C124.
The car comes to market with a recent service and an MOT to 21st October 2025, so is ready to drive away. With its very reliable 3.2L straight six, optional 5spd auto box and unburstable build quality, this car would work as a daily or a weekend treat.
“A delight to drive the powerful and torquey M104 engine coupled to the five-speed automatic gearbox. In addition, the sportline suspension package makes for a more engaging drive than the regular version and gives the car a more imposing aesthetic stance. Remarkably the original owner ordered the car without any labels or badges (apart from MB star front and back) resulting in a visually pure exterior.
“With side windows down and sunroof open, this car is a practical alternative to convertible motoring in the UK.
“The history includes the original order document, including all factory extras.”
