The TVR Chimaera, what with its powerful V8 engine, is already an impressively capable and really rather rapid two-seater sports car. But what if you're after a smidge more performance? What if you crave a touch more excitement from your no nonsense weekend toy? Well, you strap a turbo to it of course.
Yep, that's right, this TVR Chimaera is turbocharged. And we're here for it. The tried and tested Rover V8 is renowned for its simple, rugged mechanicals so turbocharging the thing kind of makes sense. Combine this with the car's handsome fibreglass body and tubular chassis and we reckon you're on to a winner when it comes to a stylish and powerful GT.
Make no mistake though, this isn't a shed build. Far from it. The engine was completely rebuilt six years ago by independent TVR specialists Powers Performance, who also installed the turbo kit at great expense, plus an MBE ECU and other supporting mods.
A lot of money has been spent on the conversion, including a gearbox and differential rebuild and all new bushes. Fully documented and with a comprehensive history, if you're after a quirky and capable modern classic British sports car but with a bit of extra spice then this TVR Chimaera turbo could be just the ticket. With a little fettling required bring get it to 100% it would also suit someone who likes to get involved in the mechanical side of things. image.png5.15 MB
