Pre-bids

1997 Fiat Barchetta

Highlights

  • Classic red with upgraded alloy wheels
  • Maintenance carried out in March 2026 including oil, filter and spark plugs
  • Interesting project and opportunity to add value

The Appeal

When the two‑seat roadster market exploded in the 1990s, Fiat was a bit late to the party, but by the time it arrived it was worth the wait. Inspired by MG and Ferrari classics of the 1950s, the Punto-based Barchetta had all the style, flair and driving pleasure that had made Fiats a virtual definition of roadsters in the 1950s and 60s.
This 1997 Barchetta wears classic red paint and rides on upgraded wheels. Inside, the attractive cabin, with body-coloured accents, looks to be in good condition, as does the folding canvas roof. We’re told it was recently serviced in March 2026.
The car will need a new MOT before taking to the road this summer, but the seller assures us it starts and runs. There are a few cosmetic points to note in the photos. It’s an interesting project for the enthusiast looking to add value.

Key Information

  • Mileage: 155,720 km (not guaranteed)
  • Country of registration: France
  • Vehicle inspection status: no valid current MOT
  • Technical specifications: 1,747 cc petrol engine, four cylinders, five-speed manual gearbox
  • Documents: a few invoices present, maintenance in March 2026

The Detail

  • Classic red paint in average condition with obvious wear in the photos
  • Presence of rust on the rear wings and sills, as shown in the photos
  • Bodywork described as broadly good but affected by rust in the areas mentioned above
  • Mechanical condition described as wear appropriate for age
  • Limited service history
  • Maintenance carried out in March 2026, we’re told
  • Black canvas folding roof with plastic rear screen in generally good condition
  • Interior in black fabric with seats in average condition showing some wear
  • Upgraded multi‑spoke bolt wheels showing some curb wear and staining on the tyres
  • The filler neck valve has been replaced and appears unpainted
