The Appeal

Proudly piloted by the celebrity set the original Bentley Azure was a jewel in the grand automotive crown of the mid-nineties. Debuting in '95 the Azure was a four-seater convertible grand tourer based upon the Continental R platform and it was a decadent slice of motoring utopia.

Designed by Pininfarina, the Azure was a huge car – the biggest convertible at the time – so it required a suitably sizeable engine, and Bentley delivered with its indomitable 6.75-litre turbocharged V8 that developed around 390bhp.

Comfortable, luxurious and plenty fast enough it was quintessential Bentley and it wowed the crowds. Remaining in production until 2003 Bentley would retire the Azure due in part to other, more modern offerings from its own factory and as such the Azure nowadays presents as a pretty rare modern classic for fans of the marque as it was made in fairly limited numbers.

This example – a totally original and clearly cherished 1998 model – presents in wonderful condition both inside and out, is reported to be mechanically on point and with just 29K kilometres on the clock from new has seen limited use.

Well-preserved and resplendent in dark blue paint over cream leather interior it certainly looks the business and offers the elegance and presence of a true modern classic. With the charm and craftsmanship that define the Bentley name it's worthy of any trip to the Côte d'Azur.
