The Appeal
Considering the appeal of its torquey M52 straight six it’s perhaps a surprise to discover such a sparingly used Z3 2.8 as this one. But then, it has led a sheltered life on Jersey until recently, where opportunities for long trips are a little more limited, and has covered just 32,000 miles.
That is very good news for what will be the car’s first UK keeper, because it delivers a 27 year old classic in extremely good condition. The black paintwork presents very well and the matching leather interior looks barely used. There is a recently fitted black fabric roof to complete the cosmetics.
Mechanically that 190bhp motor is in fine shape thanks to regular servicing. We are told the car comes to market with recent service, new battery and attention to the brakes. It will be sold with all UK import duties paid. The has an MOT until next September, it passed with no advisories
With its retro style and rear-drive dynamics, the Z3 neatly balances between modern and classic. That explains its growing appeal and why we expect this one to be snapped up.
The vendor says:
“A very well cared for example of the bigger engined Z3. With a pretty unique, and sinister colour scheme, not many around with such low mileage, low ownership and a good history file.
“Whilst the car is still Jersey registered, the vendor can help with UK mainland registration, so the buyer will be the first UK mainland owner and it will be allocated an age related plate.

The Condition
- Subtle ‘triple black’ colour scheme of bodywork, interior and roof
- The vendor states the paintwork and bodywork are in excellent condition
- We are told that there is no rust anywhere, including underside
- Body is true and straight with no accident damage says seller
- All original badges and trim, no modifications
- Vendor advises a few minor imperfections
- These include small scuff on rear bumper corner and some stone chips
- There are a couple of marks on the passenger door
- Factory standard black leather interior shows barely any wear as can be checked in photos

- Electric seats occasionally hesitant to work (connections need cleaning)
- Boot compartment appears in very good order with minimal wear
- All tools, jack, and spare wheel present and in good condition
- Five spoke ‘star’ alloys in very good condition as shown in photos
