Designed to echo the look of the original classic XJ6, it’s a fantastic usable modern classic as well as a truly delightful car to drive.
The X308 debuted in 1997, with an all-new V8 engine line-up: 3.2-litre and 4.0-litre units that echoed the capacity of previous six-cylinder models. Along with the new engine, there were a few visual tweaks – a new dashboard, better wood, clearer dials and rounder bumpers.
But beneath the bodywork, which was lovely to start with, the X308 was a different beast – advanced electronically controlled suspension, amazingly agile handling and surprisingly good economy if you treated it gently.
This one is a high specification Sovereign model in gorgeous Sapphire Blue – one of the most sought-after colours for the XJ8. Imported from Japan in 2017, it has covered a smidgeon over 15847 miles from new and is in stunning overall order.
