The Appeal
The 50th Anniversary edition is among the most collectable variants of the legendary Land Rover Discovery. Limited to approximately 1,000 units, it was distinguished by Atlantis Blue iridescent paintwork, unique 16-inch anniversary alloy wheels, and a swathe of special edition trims.
As Land Rover itself proudly stated in 1998:
"When Discovery arrived, it was greeted with amazement and delight, and soon claimed the leading position in its market sector. Discovery is still pre-eminent, and small wonder. [...] Above all, Discovery's class-leading capability off-road broadens the horizons of all those drivers bored with the limitations of the conventional family car. It's a vehicle which offers boundless leisure opportunities; from towing a dinghy easily up a tide-soaked slipway, to a desert safari. To celebrate this high-achieving career, Land Rover offers you a totally unique Collector's Edition Discovery. Fitted with a host of special features, and available in distinctive Atlantis Blue or White Gold. There will never be another one like it."
This example was repatriated from Japan in 2019, where it covered just under 95,000 km on roads free from the salt that so often plagues UK-based examples. The vendor, who has owned six Discovery V8s, states this has the smoothest engine of them all and remarks proudly on its sheer quality and condition.
Since arriving in the UK, it has been dry stored, appearing at only a handful of local shows. The 3.9-litre V8 is paired with a four-speed automatic gearbox offering high and low range plus a centre diff lock. Inside, the Bahama beige leather, walnut trim and impressive feature list make for a very luxurious place for driver and passengers alike. image.png1.22 MB

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
✓ Buyers are responsible for vehicle collection
or delivery. Importing vehicles may result in additional customs duties and import taxes so it's worth checking beforehand. It is the bidders responsibility to confirm import eligibility prior to purchase.
