The Appeal
As enthusiasts continue to re-evaluate the 996, certain models are beginning to stand out. The manual gearbox C4 is definitely one of them, particularly pre-2000 cars like this one, with the stronger double-row IMS bearing. These planted cars provide the engagement that makes any 911 so magnetically appealing.
This Zenith Blue example has been in the current keeper's care since 2019, during which time it has been dry stored, garaged and covered. A thorough programme of mechanical work has been carried out, including servicing, water pump, thermostat, engine mounts, all drive belts and pulleys, aircon system, fuel pump, coil packs, alternator, O2 sensors and much more. The rare factory hardtop and the private plate are included.
The car presents well in photos and comes with the added reassurance of a lengthy MOT with no advisories.
The vendor says:
“Driving the 996 3.4 Convertible is pure analogue joy. The moment you turn the key on the left, the flat-six comes alive with a raspy, mechanical note that instantly sets the mood. With the top down, nothing filters between you, the engine, and the road. It feels light, balanced, and remarkably communicative—every curve gives you feedback through the steering wheel. Hitting the power band in a light, mid-engine-feeling rear-engine car with the wind in your hair is a high that never gets old.”
