THE APPEAL
The Jaguar XJR was well known out of the gate for its blend between high end luxury and performance. Being British, Jaguar has a reputation for fine quality craftsmanship and the XJR was to uphold these traditions whilst offering a dynamic and engaging driving experience.
As you open the door to the XJR, you are greeted by the smell of fresh leather and an ample amount of wood burr; it’s truly an astonishing place to be. Combined with its impressive abilities, many noted this as being like a particularly luxurious muscle car.

This particular XJR is in fantastic condition and has been well kept by its former keeper, and underwent an engine replacement in 2003 - which saw the troublesome plastic Nikasil engine replaced with the Jaguar steel-lined variant, under warranty by Jaguar. With such a low mileage, it's a remarkable example of the XJR that's bound to turn heads.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

- Service stamps date up to 2016, when the car had done 58,111 miles
- The car now indicates 64,034 miles from new, which appears genuine
THE INTERIOR
- Original condition throughout with no modifications
- Great spec’d interior with a fantastic array of options
- Options include:
- heated seats to both front and rear
- electric seats with memory function
- cruise control
- Alpine speakers with tweeters
- DVD route guidance with navigation
- Sunroof
- The aforementioned sunroof operates as it should do, moving into position with ease and without fuss
- We can't spot any signs of water ingress
- The XJR also comes with a phone that is positioned in the armrest
- It is said that all of the interior functions are working as they should
- The Ivory leather throughout the XJR is presented excellently with very few signs of wear
- Ivory leather and wood burr steering wheel looks in great order for its age
- Overall the condition door cards and dash board is excellent with no marks or damage that we noted
- Carpet located within the Jaguar is in nice condition
- It is clear that the interior of this XJR has been cared for considerably over the years with no marks or damage
- Our photographer remarked that the car still has a 'new car smell'!
THE EXTERIOR
- The overall presentation of the bodywork is very good
- Some age-commensurate blemishes to the paintwork
- All original condition as far as we could tell
- The body panels look nice and straight with no signs of damage
- The split-piece BBS wheels require some attention to ensure they look their finest again
- The glass and sills are in good condition
- All lights are clear and free from fading or fogging
- Badges and chrome work around the vehicle look to be in good order
- Tow hook fitted to the rear of the car.
- The underbody of the car has been fully wax oiled for rust and weather protection
- Some body panels appear to have been touched up to a high standard
THE MECHANICS
- Starts and runs well, with no reported mechanical issues to note
- At 28,000 miles, the plastic tappet Nikasil engine was replaced with a steel lined one under wrranty
- 4.0 V8 supercharged engine sounds fantastic under load
- The engine produces approximately 370 horsepower and 387lb-ft of torque
- The automatic transmission selects gears well with no crunching or grinding that we noticed
- Out on the road, the gearbox seamlessly cycles through the gears with no faults that came to our attention
- Under the bonnet, everything appeared to be in good condition with no obvious signs of any leaks that we saw
- There are some advisories to be aware of on the MOT sheet, though there's nothing of significant concern
- The dashboard indicator warns of a suspension fault
SUMMARY
This is a wonderful example of a real gentleman driver’s car and true modern classic. It has been well cared for and is presented in good order. Inside, you are greeted by a plethora of creature comforts, ensuring that you're kept in pure opulence whilst soaking up the lavish interior design that the XJR offers. Examples with such low mileage are increasingly scarce, and we're sure this one will attract plenty of attention
