The Appeal
At between £21,000 and £26,000 on top of the standard car’s £70,000 purchase price, the Paramount Grand Prix package for the X100 wasn’t cheap. But it was certainly worth it, because it delivered a power hike from 400 to 450bhp and a considerably more planted and engaged driving experience. The extra power was the result of reworking the supercharger pulley, a remap and fitting an induction system. The cars also got lower, stiffer suspension, and there was the option of an ‘F1 Switch Shift’ steering wheel.
Of the 150 cars believed to have been converted by Paramount, not all got the full ‘450’ treatment. This car appears to have undergone extensive rework by the firm, including sill trims, BBS five-spoke alloys, and that performance upgrade. It is a really tidy example in black metallic with an ivory leather interior and very high factory spec, which is detailed below. As a 2003 car, it benefits from the much-improved 4.2L AJ34 V8 engine and the stronger 6spd auto box with its clever ‘Randle Handle’ J-Gate.
The current keeper, the car’s third, is a collector and acquired the car in 2016. He has covered only 1,300 miles in that time. Despite the sparing use, the car has been regularly serviced, most recently in July 2025. There is also a lengthy MOT valid to April 2027 with no advisories.
The Paramount package is well regarded by enthusiasts, and with good reason. These cars rarely come to market, and this is one of the best we’ve seen.
