The Appeal
The X100 XK8 is the sort of grand tourer that only Jaguar could make. We can’t quite imagine its German or even Italian rivals designing a dashboard in the shape of a Spitfire wing to commemorate the factory where both car and WWII ace were built.
Those details and the car’s evocative E-Type-inspired shape explain its enduring popularity. Later cars like this one benefit from two significant improvements - the larger 4.2L engine with its more reliable metal timing chains and a much stronger 6-spd auto box. This 2003 example is finished in the popular combination of Platinum Silver with Ivory leather and walnut veneers and has been with the current keeper since 2014.
The car is in good shape, with the history file showing evidence of repairs to key XK8 check areas such as the sills. There is a pleasing run of 16 service stamps from main dealers and specialists up to 105,000 miles. Recent work has included a new air mass meter, replacement calliper, reluctor rings, power steering hoses and a wheel speed sensor. The front discs and pads were replaced in 2021, with few miles covered since. The headlining was also renewed in 2022. The current MOT runs to February 2027 with no advisories.
The XK8 is one of Jaguar’s finest GTs, and this later model offers strong reasons to take a closer look.
The vendor says:
“A lot of history and bills; runs perfectly. A great drive; it's an absolute pleasure to drive.”
