The Appeal
The Mazda MX-5 has earned itself a reputation as one of the best sports cars you can buy on a budget. Of course there are more powerful and more refined sports cars out there, but when it comes to value and smile per mile, these take some beating. Just take a look at how many have been modified and used on the track and indeed the street. It makes it all the more special to come across one that is in completely original condition and has been looked after by its owners over the years, which is exactly what we have here.
This is the rarer 1.8i Sport model which provides a useful 140bhp, factory fitted Bilstein sports suspension, 6-speed gearbox, full leather interior, ABS, 16” alloys wheels, factory hardtop, heated seats and a limited slip differential. Interested? Of course you are.
The History and Paperwork
- Supplied new in Bolton in 2003
- Initially serviced by Mazda Dealers for the first three years of its life, it was originally owned by an older gentleman and the car had very limited use, it was then put into dry storage between 2008 and 2016
- In 2016 it was sold to the previous owners who used the car for sunny Sunday drives and covered around 3,000 miles per year. They had a family friend maintain the car privately on their behalf, who was an ex-Mazda trained technician
- When the current owner purchased the car in 2021 he placed it in storage as he was recovering from surgery to his broken leg. The car went into a Mazda specialist for full recommissioning. Sadly, the owners leg requires further surgery and he’s been advised he will most likely be unable to drive a manual car again which is why its being put up for auction
