The Appeal

You have to admire this car’s keepers because somehow they’ve resisted its considerable charms and kept the mileage below 36,500km. The result is a car in quite remarkable condition - the paintwork betrays few signs of its 23 years and the interior looks barely used.

As a ‘black on black’ Turbo with manual gearbox it is the sort of spec that appeals to enthusiasts. The vendor tells us that it originated in California before arriving with the current Lithuanian keeper in 2016. He also tells us that the car has full service history, although we have not verified this. The current technical inspection runs to April 2027.

With interest in the 996 growing, this viscerally quick yet well-kept example deserves serious consideration.

Look closely at the high traffic and vulnerable areas on this car, such as the wheel rims and driver’s seat bolster, and you’ll be hard pressed to describe it as a 23 year old car. We’re told the condition is not the result of restoration - the Deep Black paintwork and Full Black leather are said to be original.

The cabin is fitted with a steel sliding sunroof and retains its original Porsche stereo with 6CD changer.

Any 911 badged ‘Turbo’ has to excite, and the 996 does. But not, thankfully, in the way some of the early ‘widow maker’ cars did. Clever multilink rear suspension and surefooted AWD enable this car to place its 415bhp safely and predictably.

The vendor confirms that the 36,500 km from new is correct and tells us that the car comes with full service history. The vendor has owned the car since 2016 after importing it from the USA. There is also a useful Carfax report from its time in America. The current technical inspection runs to April 2027.
