The Subaru Impreza became an icon of the performance car world through its extraordinary success in international rallying, piloted to victory by drivers such as Colin McRae, Richard Burns and Petter Solberg. Central to both the competition cars and their road-going counterparts was Subaru’s advanced symmetrical all-wheel-drive system, paired with the marque’s unmistakable turbocharged flat-four engine and its instantly recognisable burble.
 
Developed by Banbury-based motorsport specialist Prodrive – the same company responsible for Subaru’s World Rally Championship efforts – the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) was conceived as a factory-approved upgrade package bridging the gap between the standard WRX and the range-topping STI. The package combined revised engine management, a stainless-steel exhaust system, an uprated fuel pump and revised intercooler hoses to deliver to give a 40bhp boost and 16% increase in torque.
 
Finished in Premium Silver Metallic, this PPP-equipped example remains a sharp and contemporary-looking sports saloon and has covered fewer than 30,000 miles from new.
