The R230-generation SL55 AMG occupies a very special place in the Mercedes-Benz pantheon. Fitted with AMG's hand-built, supercharged 5.5-litre V8 producing 493 HP, it transformed the elegant SL roadster into a formidable grand tourer capable of dispatching most contemporary supercars. With its electrohydraulic retractable hardtop, Active Body Control suspension, and a specification list that reads like a technology showcase, the SL55 AMG offered a rare blend of brute force and refined luxury that remains appealing today.
This 2005 example, finished in Cubanite Silver Metallic over Black/Anthracite leather, is a notably well-specified car.
