The Appeal
In 1997, Mercedes-Benz got to work bringing back the legendary Maybach brand name. It was an audacious move; thirty years had passed since their last Maybach-badged car, and the luxury market was now held firm by British marques like Rolls-Royce and Bentley. The first car they introduced was the Maybach 57 in 2002 - and what a car it was. The perfect reintroduction to the badge. Sadly, the market proved stiff and only 1,104 were ever built of the base car.
Hand-built in Sindelfingen and priced from £280,000 when new, the 57 offered a twin-turbocharged V12, a cabin trimmed to the most exacting standards, and a presence on the road that few vehicles could match. Production numbers were modest, and well-kept examples with strong provenance are increasingly difficult to find.
This 2007 example in Côte d'Azur Blue over Mary Pearl leather has been chauffeur-driven from new by its original owner, who kept it for nearly two decades before selling it to the current keeper in May 2025. It has had just one former registered keeper and benefits from a service history totalling 19 recorded services - the first eleven carried out by the Maybach Centre of Excellence and the subsequent eight by marque specialist A&A Merctech. The history file is thorough, with the original service booklet, owner's manuals, and handbooks all present and in chronological order.
The vendor describes the car as being in very good order throughout, with a tidy exterior, a clean underside, and an interior in which every button, switch, and instrument is reported to function as it should. The original Maybach accessories are remarkably complete, right down to the champagne flutes, headphones, lambswool rugs, and umbrella. Recent mechanical attention includes four new Continental MO tyres, four-wheel alignment, and genuine new track arms. It comes to market with an MOT valid to August 2027, and is ready to drive away.
