A fine example of the low-volume E63 AMG which was only produced for two model years
Offering a full Mercedes Benz Dealer service history with 10 entries in the service book
A highly specified example boasting a host of sporting and luxury equipment
The Appeal
The W211 E-Class arrived in 2002 to become the third generation of this luxury midsized saloon.
The model was revised again in 2006 for the 2007 model year. This refresh ushered in the E63 AMG to replace the E55 AMG, the previous performance pinnacle of the E-Class.
Many had been wowed by the E55 with its 5.4L V8 and 469bhp. The E63 AMG doubled down on this already eye-widening performance specification with the M156 6.3L V8 pumping out a huge 507 bhp.
The E63 AMG represents the ultimate expression of Mercedes sports saloons and remains a performance powerhouse over 15 years later delivering a 0-100mph time of under 10 seconds.
The interior of the E63 AMG is exquisitely trimmed in black Nappa leather
The sports seats are centred with perforated leather panels
They feature anodised AMG emblems to the seat backs
The front seats are electrically adjustable with multi-stage memory functions
The front seats are heated and cooled and feature a massage function
The rear bench is equally well trimmed and presented
The rear headrests can be remotely retracted for increased visibility
The rear seats are also heated, and a separate climate control is available for rear passengers
The dark grey carpets are in pristine condition and are protected by AMG carpet mats
The high-specification dashboard is finished in black with generous accents of bird’s eye maple veneer
This is mirrored on the pristine door cards
A multifunction, sports steering wheel is fitted and finished in black leather
The interior specification is very generous too, catering for almost every driver need
This includes a premium Harmon Kardon sound system and Comand navigation system
A Parktronic (PTS) system is fitted as are retractable window blinds for the rear cabin
This is an impressive cabin that can’t fail to impress. It is entirely appropriate to a range topping Mercedes Benz saloon and prioritises luxury and comfort but not at the expense of sporting pretentions.
The front seats do absolutely everything that you may desire on a long journey and the high-specification Comand system takes care of your entertainment and navigation needs.
Everything in here is in a totally original and pristine condition too. No faults or imperfections were noted or reported with the E63 AMG delivering an almost factory-fresh interior presentation.2007_Mercedes_Benz_E63_AAMG-092.jpg2.36 MB
The Exterior
This car is finished in Bright Silver Metallic and exudes a deep and lustrous shine throughout
All light lenses appear original and in excellent condition
The cabin glass is clear and devoid of any noticeable damage or deterioration
The E63 AMG sits on the glorious 18-inch, AMG, five spoke split rim wheels
The wheels present in an excellent condition and are embossed with the AMG logo
The open-spoke design allows a peek of the AMG logoed callipers
The wheels are shod with quality Continental tyres in a 245/40 configuration
With the 6.3 AMG badging, vented front spoiler and quad tailpipes there is no mistaking this for a humbler E-Class
The exterior condition is excellent and makes for an impressively appealing example
The E63 AMG looks quite subtle by the standards of some later performance orientated AMG models, and it is none the worse for it. Those in the know will spot the vented front spoiler and the big split rims and recognise this as the special E-Class that it is, however.
It’s a great looking car with real road presence and charisma that will turn heads and start car park conversations with car enthusiasts everywhere.2007_Mercedes_Benz_E63_AAMG-074.jpg3.56 MB
The Mechanics
The E63 AMG is the ultimate expression of AMG saloons of the period
The splendid M156 6.3L V8 is a piece of automotive art as much as it is an engine
Hand built and signed by a single AMG artisan to ensure quality and continuity
The mechanical specifications of the E63 read like a petrolhead’s wish list
Delivering 507 bhp and 460 Lb-ft of torque
Translating into a 0-60mph in the low fours and 0-100mph in 9.7 seconds
The power delivered to the rear wheels via a smooth changing 7 speed automatic gearbox
Fitted with a limited slip differential and Airmatic semi-active air suspension
The huge front brakes are cross-drilled and grabbed by eight pot callipers
The sensible original mileage and full dealer service history makes for an excellent mechanical condition throughout
This is one of those rare cars that looks quite conservative and tame at a casual glance.
Only the initiated may notice the well-chosen performance cues.
The driving dynamics of this car should leave no one in any doubt, however. The formidable power delivery mated to a seven-speed automatic and limited slip differential makes for gravity defying acceleration when called upon.
When the circumstances dictate, however, this is a car that is eminently refined and highly accomplished at transporting five people and their luggage in comfort and without drama.
The E63 AMG is a hand built, specialist car which has been thoroughly fettled by the performance specialists at AMG.
Built in modest numbers for just two model years and this has always been a rare beast and even more so 15 years on.
Despite that the car offers its owner an incredibly flexible vehicle that amounts to a number of cars rolled into one. It offers supercar slaying performance when needed but wrapped in a highly practical and sumptuous luxurious package.
This example is a peach, too. A full-service history, sensible original miles and a pristine presentation throughout.
Combine all these facets and you have a car which is likely to be as good an investment as it is a means of delivering a scintillating driving experience.
