The Appeal

A perennially popular model in the Bentley stable, the Continental epitomises all that’s associated with this grand old marque. It conjures up images of long-distance motoring to warmer climes, effortlessly chewing up the miles, and doing so in utter luxury.

This particular example is presented in Mulliner specification which includes unique interior and exterior trim features, such as the 20-inch wheels and lightened pedals. The car is finished in a fetching shade of pale metallic blue, which complements the tasteful diamond-stitched leather interior.

The Interior

The interior of any Bentley will be a sumptuous cocoon of luxuriousness, but the Mulliner edition of the Continental GT takes this a step further. It is a cut above, with desirable features such as a knurled gear knob, two-tone leather upholstery, drilled pedals and diamond-stitched seat covers and door cards.

The upholstery is presented in very good condition throughout, and befits the car’s mileage. There is very little wear to speak of, only a little creasing to the driver’s seat, but no obvious staining, rips or scuffs that we could see. The carpets are similarly tidy, and the footwells are fitted with plush, leather-trimmed overmats.

Deeply figured burr veneers swathe the centre console and dashboard, retaining a deep shine. The chrome air vents, buttons and switches contrast this nicely and the rest of the dashboard is trimmed in smart blue leather which remains in excellent condition.

To the rear, the cavernous boot is fully carpeted and presented in very clean condition. Underneath the floor there is a spare wheel, towing eye and tool kit.

The Exterior

The unmistakable shape of a Bentley Continental is accentuated here with this car’s pale metallic blue paintwork, which is in very good shape throughout. Other than a few insignificant, age-related scratches and chips, we couldn’t see any significant damage to the paint. And it appears to be sitting upon very good body panels, which look straight and true, with good shut lines.

The exterior trim is simple and understated: a simple chrome strip runs low along the side of the car, and chrome pieces surround the windows. And, other than the chrome mesh grille and winged ‘B’ badge, the car is generally less ‘flash’ than you may assume.

Underneath, the car looks to be in good order, with little in the way of surface corrosion and it runs on imposing 20-inch alloy wheels. These are generally presentable but do show some scratches and scuffs.

The Mechanics

Under the sizeable bonnet of this Bentley lies its stupendously powerful engine. This six-litre twin-turbo W12 unit remains at the driver’s beck and call, and with the flick of a right foot it will roar into twin turbocharged life and catapult the car forwards.

The car comes with an excellent service record. The accompanying documentation holds plenty of stamps, with the most recent entry stating that a 4 + service was carried out in October 2021.

The vendor informs us that this car runs perfectly and that it has always been hooked up to a battery charger when not in use. It comes with both winter and summer tyres.

Summary

In all, this Continental appears to be in superb condition inside and out. It benefits from Mulliner trim specification which really sets it apart, and it would make an excellent choice for the discerning sporting motorist.
