The Appeal

Porsche, like many sports car manufacturers before and since, had tried to build a quick saloon before. It wasn’t until the slippery Panamera, with its 911-esque profile, that they finally succeeded. Here was, at last, an executive express with the civility of a Mercedes and the agility of the firm’s rear-engined icon.

Of the first-generation ‘970’ cars, it’s this one, the 4S, that arguably provides the best balance of those qualities. It's M48 4.8L V8 provides 400bhp of naturally aspirated pace while the AWD system keeps briefcases and paperwork from sliding around in the bends. This 2009 4S is an early example, finished in dark grey metallic, which has been augmented with gold wheels and decals reminiscent of some classic 70s 911s. It is a highly specified car that left the works with over £7,700 in options, including the clever Sport Chrono Pack, which works with the highly regarded 7spd PDK box, plus Birch Wood veneers, memory seats, and a sports exhaust.

In subsequent years, it has been serviced regularly, primarily by main dealers. There are invoices from 2022 from Porsche Aberdeen for over £2,000 of parts, and in 2024, it was fitted with Akrapovic tailpipes. It comes with an MOT valid to February 2027 with no advisories.
