Recent repairs to exhaust, brakes, bearings and steering gaiter
Danbury conversion interior unmodified since 2010
Irish Certificate of Roadworthiness to March 2027
The Appeal
Much as we love the original Type 1 and 2 vans, factory-standard examples are better suited to short breaks than long tours. The final Brazilian-built ‘Pao De Forma’ solved that problem by pairing the classic looks with a modern VW 1.4L 78bhp 4-cylinder water-cooled engine. Hills and long distances solved.
Specialist Danbury converted this Kombi in 2010, and the current keeper acquired it in 2018. It is said to remain original to the conversion, as the photos show, and presents well. The two-tone yellow and white bodywork is in good order for a Type 2 of this age, and the interior, with its plush grey velour seats, is also well kept.
The history file shows a recent service in early 2025, with few miles since, plus further work to brakes, exhaust, steering system and bearings in the same year. The current Irish Certificate of Roadworthiness runs to March 2027.
With that current MOT and just 83,200 km on the clock, this Type 2 Danbury looks well placed to continue serving as a reliable and characterful holiday companion.
The vendor says:
“Very good mechanical condition. Starts without fail and no problems. Full service history available. Very good holiday vehicle - classic looks with a modern engine.”
