The Appeal
Sometimes, a car pops up that simply demands a double-take. The Cygnet looks like a Toyota iQ, but a quick check of the badging reveals something far stranger. It's an Aston Martin - a bizarre, left-field attempt to lower the marque's emissions ratings by introducing a perky little city car with a fanciful hand-crafted cabin and minor styling revisions. It didn't make sense then, it still doesn't really now - and that's why we love it.
Only about 150 were sold in the UK market, and about 600 across Europe. Considering Aston expected to shift 4,000 a year, it's little wonder they lost patience, axed it and moved on, inadvertently creating a ridiculously hot collectable in the process.
This particular 2011 example, finished in metallic silver, has been with its current owner since October 2013 and has covered just 26,159 miles. Having been garage-stored and only intermittently driven since 2018, this well-preserved Cygnet is a real unicorn, and we think it's well worthy of your attention. 4a66ffba-6574-43a1-9b34-1e63e40e921b.jpg537.88 KB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
✓ Buyers are responsible for vehicle collection
