The Appeal
The Nissan Elgrand belongs to the breed of large Japanese MPVs that have established a growing fanbase, thanks to their futuristic, flamboyant style, and spacious, well-equipped interiors. The third-generation (‘E52’) of the Elgrand was larger than the model it replaced, and offered more room, thanks to a longer wheelbase and more efficient packaging.
This is an example of the VIP model, marketed as ‘the Executive MPV’, which is designed to carry up to seven passengers in comfort, and highly equipped. Outside, the VIP is differentiated by a full factory-fitted body kit and privacy glass. The side doors and tailgate are electric, and there is an automatically operating side step on the left side of the car.
Inside, the black full leather interior features seven seats across three rows. Comfort features abound, including heated electric memory front seats and a folding table between the two centre seats, which come with foot rests and fold flat into a bed. A cabinet housing a built-in freezer, bookshelf and remote control TV and DV player sits between the front and centre seats. There are twin electric sunroofs and separate climate control for the rear cabin.
The car is powered by the highly regarded 3.5-litre Nissan V6, paired to a CVT automatic gearbox.
