The Appeal
Airstream made its name with its iconic teardrop aluminium trailers, but in recent years has turned its attentions to camper van conversions. You could be forgiven for not clocking this because at up to $310,000 for a van like the one in the photos, these bespoke vehicles are firmly aimed at a very small audience of uber-wealthy clientele.
The firm’s Interstate EXT is a bespoke build based on Mercedes’ 24ft 6in long 519CDI V6 Sprinter. The idea behind it is to produce a four-wheeled ‘Grand Lounge’ for travelling, entertaining and luxury off-grid living.
Here is your chance to sample the sort of mobile luxury more usually associated with Bentleys, Rolls-Royces and Lurssen yachts. We are told that this 2014 EXT was a cancelled order, resulting in it being dry stored in Singapore between 2015 and 2023. It arrived in the UK in 2025 and is now locally registered and carries a current MOT to June 2027 with no advisories.
The mileage is just 1,520 km (944 miles), which means that the extremely luxurious interior, trimmed in full black leather, is essentially ‘as new.’ Some of the fittings still have their protective plastic coverings in place. It also comes to market freshly serviced, although the vendor recommends a few further checks if you’re planning a long trip, given its limited use from new.
The vendor says:
“It is a "as new" Airstream Interstate EXT. These retailed at $300k new and are top of the line. Has to be seen to be appreciated.”
