The Appeal
When Toyota decided it wanted to recapture more youthful, outdoorsy buyers, you could be forgiven for imagining it would take the easy route and offer something that looked rugged, but might struggle to go anywhere. Like a sort of modern Matra Rancho. It didn’t. The resulting FJ Cruiser cleverly channelled retro themes with an altogether ‘go anywhere’ approach typical of the established Land Cruiser.
Sadly, UK buyers were denied access to this successful model, but a few FJ Cruisers have snuck in. This is one of them. It is sadly a bereavement sale. We’re told that this keeper acquired it in 2016 in Qatar, before bringing it to the UK when he relocated in 2021.
It is smartly presented in light blue with a white roof and a similarly two-tone black and blue interior. There are inevitably a few signs of use, but they are light, as you can check in the photos.
Beneath the bonnet is Toyota’s ultra-reliable 4L V6 engine mated to a 5spd gearbox with hi and low AWD functionality. As a later FJ, it has the higher 260bhp output. The vendor tells us that it has been regularly serviced throughout its life. It carries a useful MOT valid to January 2026.
The vendor says:
“Vehicle is mechanically sound, well looked after by the owner and regularly serviced.
“Great on the open road, but when running as a 4x4 it comes to life on rugged terrain.”
