The Appeal
Here is, quite simply, the unthinkable - a slammed Lamborghini tractor built in the steampunk tradition. This 2020 Centenario is one of five commissioned by German Lamborghini private collection Klima Lounge to honour the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini. Designed by Italian Adler Capelli, it cleverly blends discreet nods to the firm’s 1960s tractors, specifically the DLA35, with touches of the firm’s sports cars, notably the long, low profile.
To buy one of the five new ones, you would have needed €1.75m. As you can see in our photos, it is as much a sculptural showpiece as a functional vehicle, which likely explains why it has only covered 500km since completion. The detailing is fantastic, with innumerable clever ‘Easter eggs’ for the Lambo enthusiast, of tractors, cars or both, to seek out and revel in.
The condition is impressive and certainly in the ‘collector’ grade area. Capelli insisted that each Centenario should be unpainted because he wanted it to patina, just like the blue and orange Lamborghini tractors that still populate Italy’s hillsides. The result is a work of art that rewards as it ages.
This beautiful art piece is a must for Lamborghini fans. Put simply, find another.
History & Paperwork
- Built in 2020
- One of five commissioned by Klima Lounge
- Only 500km since completion
The Condition
- Unmodified and very original Centenario
- Unpainted hand-formed metalwork with gentle patina
- Hand-crafted Lamborghini features
- Twin seats with burnished bases
- Steel disc wheels with black finish
Capelli’s vision for the Centenario was, naturally, to mark the founder’s birthday, and in so doing, he has managed to create a vehicle that references key stages in the development of his business. It is not so much a tractor as a blend of the firm’s agricultural and road-going vehicles, all brought together by the steampunk aesthetic.
The attention to detail is, frankly, breathtaking. This is a tractor that you could return to repeatedly and still find something new and interesting. And what you do find has clearly been hand-crafted with considerable care. Just look at our photos to see what we mean.
The Centenario was intended to age and patina like a classic Lamborghini tractor. This one is still young enough for that process to be only beginning.
The Mechanics
- 2.2-litre DLA35 three-cylinder diesel engine
- Manual gearbox
- Rebuilt mechanicals
The Centenario’s running gear will be familiar to farmers, but that may not be immediately obvious. Beyond the sculptural metalwork, wrought to reference Lamborghini’s GT cars, lies the firm’s 2.2L DLA35 three-cylinder diesel engine. It has been fully rebuilt and has covered only 500km since completion.
