Description
For sale is my beautiful W116 280SE in Milan Brown with “Moss” (green) MB Tex interior, a wonderful 70s colour combination. It has automatic transmission and an electric sunroof. Manufactured in Oct 1975 (and first registered on 1st Jan 1976), it is one of the later cars to have the Bosch D-jetronic fuel injection. I believe it is the only 1976-registered 280SE left on the roads in the UK (not SORN).
I can only describe the condition as superb, having spent 30 years (1985-2015) with one owner and stored in a humidity-controlled garage all that time. The person I purchased the car from, who owned it from 2015 to 2019, also kept it in a garage and drove it sparingly for shows and events. I have kept it in an underground garage during my ownership, only driving in dry weather.
With the exception of a few very small under-bonnet surface patches, as far as I can ascertain there is zero rust. The paintwork and chrome are in exceptional, unrestored condition. The interior has survived extremely well, too. The mileage is reading 39000, believed genuine based on the astonishing unrestored condition, but sadly not verifiable as the history before 2015 has been lost. It has been wholly reliable in my 16 months and 2000 miles of ownership.
I wrote an article and it was featured in the Autumn 2019 issue of Classic Mercedes magazine.
Any questions welcome! I am not in a hurry to sell.
