Austin Healey 3000 Mk II convertible, year 1964. Chassis number HBJ7L/ 22786, engine number 29F/ RU/ H3705. Bodywork finished in pale blue (Iris Blue) combined with a black leather interior. Off-white soft-top and a black hood-cover. This magnificent Austin Healey 3000 Mk II convertible, also named Mk II A, was fully restored and perfectly rally prepared by Altena Classic & Rally Service in the years 2007 – 2009. Costs nor effort were spared to meet the demands of the owner. Including the initial purchase of the car the restoration and preparation costs mounted up to 150. 000 Euro. Nowadays such a top notch built would not be possible at that cost. In 2009 this ‘Big Healey’ won the Dutch FOCWA award for best rally prepared ‘Austin Healey on the InterClassics in Maastricht. The car comes complete with a IVA identity card, a photo report and invoices of the restoration / preparation and service invoices. Everything is perfectly documented. Over the past sixteen years the car has successfully participated in many historic events in the hands of its dedicated owner. The car was serviced punctually by specialists. This fine Austin Healey rally car is in a very good condition showing some traces of use. The driving experience is magnificent; one can feel that the car was built to a very high standard of perfection. This ‘Big Healey’ is (amongst others) fitted with the following options, modifications and improvements. Fully reinforced chassis and body, grade A four post roll-bar, a special boot-lid, cooling louvres in the front wings and in the bonnet, four additional long-range and wide-range lamps at the front, rally instruments and a map reading light on the dashboard, a specially fabricated side-exhaust (giving a fantastic sound-track!), special leather seats, four-point safety harnesses, black painted aluminium alloy Minilite wheels, Hankook tyres, a modified wiring loom, up-rated and strengthened suspension (polyurethane bushings), tuned engine (van Giersbergen, the Netherlands), up-rated cooling system, electric cooling fan, large aluminium petrol tank, dual circuit brake system, heavy-duty engine supports, modified inlet manifold, free-flow exhaust manifold, fire extinguishing system, etcetera. This is a very special and spectacular Austin Healey 3000 rally car!
