This extremely rare Iso Rivolta Lele Marlboro Coupé is one of only two limited-edition vehicles commissioned in 1973 by the Philip Morris Tobacco Company, whose Marlboro brand sponsored Iso's Formula 1 team at the time.
Frank Williams supplied the F1 race cars, which were powered by a Ford-Cosworth engine. Drivers for the Iso team included Howden Ganley, Nanni Galli, Henri Pescarolo, Graham McRae, and Jacky Ickx.
The two Marlboro coupes, which were lighter and more powerful than the standard Lele from which they were developed, were made available to the drivers of the F1 team and used for advertising purposes.
The first of these vehicles (chassis number “184”, painted red) went to the New Zealander Howden Ganley, while the second (“185”, white) went to the Italian Nanni Galli.
After the end of his Formula 1 career, Nanni Galli had to return the car.
The car was subsequently overhauled by Iso Rivolta and presented to Emerson Fittipaldi in 1974 on the occasion of his second world championship title.
